We’re not quite there with spring yet, but cold dry weather shouldn’t hold you back from a location portrait session. For a recent Kent family portrait photo shoot in Faversham we started off indoors with a mixture of classic colour and black and white portraits lit with natural light from a window. The larger family group picture required a small amount of flash. Once outside, the same flash was put to use to simulate the sunshine (of which there was none!).

Even on a grey, dull day, you can still get some great portraits of you or your family. You can’t rely on natural light for everything, but with a subtle and selective use of artificial light you can stop the pictures becoming a bit flat.
