Mercery Court is a development of luxury apartments in the centre of Canterbury. Contained in the old Boots building off the High Street, the completed apartments will have some stunning views of Canterbury Cathedral. These shots were taken for the website and brochure to be produced by the agent, Strutt & Parker.
Techie / training comment: this type of work actually requires the use of 2-4 studio and speedlights to fill-in and create pools of additional light. The trick is to make it look like the low/subdued light that you would have in a property, not the overpowering harsh light that artificial studio lights can produce if not modified. To shoot with just the ambient and tungsten lighting would not be enough and would create a yellow hue on the final image. Although relying on natural light alone can be effective in interior property pictures, it’s not enough to reach the shadow areas without blowing out the highlights around the windows. In these shots we deliberately overexposed the window light to hide the scaffolding outside!
