Nothing quite like a blustery day, holding the camera with one hand and a handrail with the oher half way up a control tower! An agency client commissioned pictures of someone who has recently qualified as an ATC.

Those lovely people at Canon UK & Ireland had just finishing running a photo competition with CD Discount where you can win a number of prizes including a day of 1-2-1 tuition with me at London Zoo (photography tuition rather than how to look after animals)…I’ll keep you posted about the winner once it’s all finalised.
My brother commented that second prize was two days with me…

Mercery Court is a development of luxury apartments in the centre of Canterbury. Contained in the old Boots building off the High Street, the completed apartments will have some stunning views of Canterbury Cathedral. These shots were taken for the website and brochure to be produced by the agent, Strutt & Parker.
Techie / training comment: this type of work actually requires the use of 2-4 studio and speedlights to fill-in and create pools of additional light. The trick is to make it look like the low/subdued light that you would have in a property, not the overpowering harsh light that artificial studio lights can produce if not modified. To shoot with just the ambient and tungsten lighting would not be enough and would create a yellow hue on the final image. Although relying on natural light alone can be effective in interior property pictures, it’s not enough to reach the shadow areas without blowing out the highlights around the windows. In these shots we deliberately overexposed the window light to hide the scaffolding outside!

Andy & Yoanna managed to come back from Dubai for a few weeks to get married in Hildenborough near Sevenoaks in Kent. The church was St John The Evangelist and you can see their pictures in full at www.viewmyevent.co.uk.
Techie / training comment – dark church meant installing a couple of speedlights on stands at the back of church with Pocketwizard slave triggers in case we had to shoot the groups inside. It was overcast / drizzling at times (really grateful for the weather sealing on the Canon 1D and L series lenses) which is good for skin tones. Selective use of fill-in flash.
