Houchin make the units you see at airports that help get the engines started on the aircraft! Techie / training note: although I had to shoot outside I set 2 off camera flashes to over power the sun so that ambient and direct sunlight became a fill light – not the dominant or overpowering light it could have been. The sun can in this sense be “tamed” to become just another light source.

To maintain the privacy of the patients and residents of the hospice I can only show you a few of these – but HRH was visiting today to open a new wing. Quite an amazing place run by some equally amazing people.

Canterbury Christchurch University have opened a new bookshop and coffee shop at the Canterbury campus – all part of a major construction project for the campus.  Christchurch is also where I am a guest lecturer with Jason Dodd on their photography degree course.

Great weather and a wonderful couple – Pete & Laura with their friends and family were married at St Mary The Virgin in Olverston near Bristol with the reception at The Barn in Gloucestershire.  Laura was the sister of Lee who married Emma last year in Surrey and it was a privilege to be asked to photograph another wedding with the same family.

A veteran WW2 Spitfire brightened up a dull September morning by providing a flypast over South
Foreland lighthouse much to the surprise of ramblers and dog walkers in the locality. The aircraft from RAF Duxford (http://www.historicaircraftcollection.ltd.uk/spitfire/) had been hired by Steve Burt of Go Action Stations for air to air filming

Luke & Mypee were married at the Eythorne Baptist church in Kent followed by a reception at the Kent Barn at Great Farthingloe Farm near Dover. It was a great day, staying dry and 120 guests made the most of it.

Training / techie comment: harsh sunshine meant using shade where possible relying on backlighting to the hair and fill in reflection and/or flash. The barn was very dark and I switched for a time to a couple of lights on stands to create pools of light (rather than a flash on top of the camera only). I stopped using the stands and umbrellas  because of the small space vs a large number of toddlers running around!
